Michael Williams is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Risk Manager (ARM), and Registered Environmental Assessor (REA) in the State of California. He has over thirty-five years of comprehensive experience in environmental health & safety in private industry, consulting and public regulatory agencies. He has held corporate positions at Apple Computer, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and American Microsystems, Inc. (AMI).  He is a recognized expert in the semiconductor and electronics industries. In 1996, Mike published the Semiconductor Industrial Hygiene Handbook, with co-author David Baldwin through Noyce Publications. He also was the primary author of Cal/OSHA’s highly regarded Semiconductor Industry Study that was published in 1981. He worked as a Senior Industrial Hygienist/Special Deputy Assistant for Health for Cal/OSHA and as an Industrial Hygienist for Federal OSHA. He is active in the Semiconductor Environmental Safety & Health Association (SESHA), and was recently inducted as SESHA Fellow. For over ten years he was a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal. Mike currently is the owner of Health Safety & Risk Management Services (HSRMS), an EH&S consulting firm specializing in the semiconductor/electronics/solar, and wine industries, in the areas of operational support, program development and expert witness testimony. He also does specialized recruiting of EH&S/product safety personnel in high technology and support industries.  

Mike has a Master of Science (MS) and a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from UC Berkeley in Environmental Health Sciences and Industrial Hygiene. He has an undergraduate degree in Health Science/Environmental Health Sciences, with a minor in Chemistry. He is an EH&S instructor at the University of California Extension program, Davis campus, presenting H&S courses in Penang, Malaysia and U.C. Berkeley campus, presenting in Semiconductor Processing, H & S Hazards/Controls. He is certified as an 1S0 14000 EMS Lead Auditor and chapter editor of the Semiconductor and Microelectronics section of the International Labour Organization's (ILO) Encyclopedia of Occupational Health & Safety, 4th Edition.  Additionally, he is the co-author of the Semiconductor Manufacturing chapter in Occupational, Industrial, and Environmental Toxicology, Mosby/Elsevier Science Publications, 2003He is a member of the AIHA, ASSE, SESHA, and BAESG associations. He is also active in his communities in Sunnyvale and Healdsburg, CA.
