Laurel Davis, MPH, CIH
President

The President shall preside at all meetings of the Local Section membership and of the Executive Committee and shall perform such other duties as may be directed by the Executive Committee. The President shall appoint committees that the Executive Committee deems necessary for the orderly function of the Local Section. The President shall be an ex-officio member of all committees and is a representative on the Local Sections Council of AIHA.

Laurel has been an active member of the local section since 1993. She maintains active memberships in AIHA (National), ACGIH, and the National Hearing Conservation Association. She is the current past-chair of the AIHA
Noise Committee, has served on two AIHA task forces, and was on the 2008 ACGIH Nominating Committee. She is an Industrial Hygienist at Berkeley National Laboratory, and received her MPH in Industrial Hygiene from UC Berkeley. Diana J. Harrington, MS, CIH
President Elect

The President-Elect automatically shall succeed the President in office upon completion of the President's term of office. The President-Elect shall perform any duties delegated by the Executive Committee or assigned by the President. The President-Elect shall serve as an AIHA-NCS representative on the Local Sections Council of AIHA.

Diana has been on the Board since 2006 and an active member of the local section since 2002. She was chair of the IH in the Community Committee from 2003 to 2006. Patty A. Beach, MS, CIH, REA
Past President

The Past President chairs the nominating committee, is a member of the website committee, provides oversight of the governmental affairs committee, and is responsible for updating the operations manual.

Patty Beach has been an active member of the local section since 1998. She participated in 2005 and 2006 in the Expanding Your Horizons program through the Outreach Committee and is also a member of the new Developing World Outreach Committee. She is a Partner and Senior Scientist for Harris & Lee Environmental Sciences supporting clients in Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Risk Management needs. Novi Wong, CIH
Board Secretary

The Secretary is responsible for carrying out secretarial functions of AIHA-NCS such as record minutes of the Executive Committee meetings and business transactions that may come before AIHA-NCS and Executive Committee meetings. The Secretary also provides directory oversight and maintains the Executive Committee Organizational Chart and the historical records of Section.

Novi is an EH&S Specialist at BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. located in Novato, CA. Novi has served on the AIHA-NCS Board as secretary since 2006. Prior to relocating to California, Novi worked as an industrial hygienist at 3M Company in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she also served as secretary for the AIHA Upper Midwest Section (2002-2004). Robert Kleinerman, MPH, CIH
Treasurer

The Treasurer shall receive, disburse and be custodian of all funds of AIHA-NCS. All disbursements shall be made upon authorization of the President. The Treasurer shall present a current financial report and provide the most recent reconciled bank statements at each regular meeting of the Executive Committee, and additionally as may be requested. The Treasurer shall present a final annual financial report at the first regularly scheduled Executive Committee meeting following the end of the fiscal year. State and Federal income tax statements shall be prepared by a certified public account and filed by the Treasurer each year with approval of the Executive Committee. After the Annual May Meeting, the Treasurer shall transmit all funds and property to the successor in office.

Robert Kleinerman has been an active member of the local section since 1994, when he relocated to the Bay Area from Southern California. He chaired the Outreach Committee (from 2000 - 2003), participated on a number of committees and then served on the executive committee as Director from 2003 - 2006. Rainbow Leung, CIH
Director - Continuing Education & Marketing

The 3rd Year Director acts as a liaison between the Executive Committee and the following assigned committees: Marketing and Vendor, Symposium, Forum, Job Lists, and Publicity & Liaison with Professional Organizations.

Rainbow Leung is certified in industrial hygiene and is currently focusing on biological safety. She received her Masters degree in industrial hygiene from University of Washington, Seattle and undergraduate degree from University of California, Berkeley. Click here to send her an e-mail


Colleen Thornton, CIH
Director - Public Relations

The 2nd Year Director acts as a liaison between the Executive Committee and the following assigned committees: IH in the Community, Newsletter, Scholarships & Awards, and Developing World Outreach Initiative.

Colleen Thornton has been an active member of the national and local section since 2000. She has chaired the IH-in-the-Community Committee (from 2005 to 2008) and has been a member of the Developing World Outreach Initiative Committee during the first year that it was launched. Colleen has 8 years of experience as an environmental health and safety professional and is currently working as an independent occupational health and safety consultant. She is certified in Industrial Hygiene and is a graduate of the UC Berkeley MPH program with an emphasis on industrial hygiene. Theresa Chen, MPH, CIH
First Year Director

The 1st Year Director acts as a liaison between the Executive Committee and the following assigned committees: Volunteer Coordinator & Member Development and Program Registration Table. The 1st Year Director also provides additional support to the Executive Committee.
