Overview:
The position serves as the Health, Safety, and Environment Officer for the Novartis Diagnostics Emeryville (EMV) Site and will be responsible for providing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) leadership, direction and expertise on HSE issues; establishing and ensuring implementation of HSE programs in compliance with federal and state regulations as well as Novartis standards.
- Responsible for HSE management systems (similar or equivalent to OHSAS 18001, VPP or ISO 14001) to prevent occupational injuries and minimize or eliminate environmental impacts from our operations
- Coordinate HSE implementation and training programs across diverse workplace settings and multiple Novartis divisions operating at the site
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations related to HSE such as Construction, Fleet, and Product Safety
- Responsible for environmental permitting and management, such as Energy and resource conservation

Requirements:

Or M.S. degree with min of 6 to 10 years of experience.
- Understanding of OSHA, HSE, local, state, federal regulations and policies pertaining to biological, chemicals, and hazardous waste handling preferred.
- Must have strategic planning and project management skills.
- Professional certification as a CIH or CSP is desirable.
- Ability to develop and document processes and to write standard operating procedures.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams or processes.

Forensic Analytical Consulting Services currently has an immediate opening for an experienced Director for our San Francisco Bay Area office. The successful candidates will have at least 5 years experience in industrial hygiene and safety consulting including assessment of asbestos, lead, microbial agents; as well as indoor air quality assessments or other industrial hygiene investigations. Strong operational and business development skills along with personnel leadership, management, and administrative skills. General understanding of financial reporting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Overall, the Director is responsible for the local office to achieve its revenue and profit targets while complying will all other company initiatives. The Director will have a good understanding of how to perform all functions of a Project Manager and Industrial Hygiene Technicians who perform the daily activities within the department. Additionally, the Director, will support our Vision by being responsible for the following:
1. Drive sales by being a leader in our Culture of Business Development, including proactive customer calls and meetings as well as attending industry professional organizations and events.
2. Develop strategic growth plans, including identifying industry sectors and service lines that will provide avenues for growth.
3. Travel to potential and existing clients to give presentations and obtain contracts.
4. Ensure local office provides exceptional customer service.
5. Develop revenue and expense budgets.
6. Work with other Local Directors and Business Development staff in order to share client leads.
7. Ensure technical quality of the local office meets company standards.
8. Supervise Project Managers, Technicians and Administrative Assistants to ensure that they achieve their goals and meet their individual, local office and company targets.
9. Evaluate manpower needs for supporting our service activities and recruit and hire as needed.
10. Ensure invoices go out in accordance with company policy.
11. Monitor accounts receivables and assist accounting in the collections process.
12. Act as a company authority in our service disciplines, use initiative in keeping current with new industry developments, keep abreast of environmental safety and health legislation.
13. Provide and monitor staff training.
14. Always strive for constant improvement in all areas of our work by identifying issues and the root cause as opposed to simply putting a band-aid on the issue.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong operational and business development skills

- Familiarity in our core services, including asbestos, lead and mold.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety, Biological or Physical Science.

Reporting to the Chemical Sciences Division (CSD) Deputy, the successful candidate will serve as the Division Safety Coordinator to support the mission of LBNL, UC, and the DOE, which includes performing work safely in a manner that ensures protection of employees, the public, LBNL assets and the environment. The safety coordinator will help CSD personnel identify and control hazards in a sustainable manner. This position will play a key role in working with Division scientists and administrative personnel to help them work safely within the Division's Integrated Safety Management (ISM) plan.
The coordinator will provide professional environment, safety and health assistance to CSD employees, in consultation with LBNL-EHS Subject Matter Experts, on a variety of aspects relative to the ISM Plan and related activities. The safety coordinator will provide advice, guidance, and support in the field to researchers in areas such as: waste handling and disposition, interpretation of environment, safety and health regulations, assistance and implementation of written and web-based requirements, implications of significant modifications in procedures or equipment, and resolution of occupational health & safety, industrial hygiene, and other environment, safety and health issues. The coordinator will strive to improve safety performance of all Division personnel within all safety-oriented regulatory policies and procedures, promote a safety culture in which CSD members are proactive on behalf of the safety of themselves and their colleagues, and partner with the CSD management, work with researchers, and other team members to resolve technical research safety problems, to promote this safety culture, and to motivate workers to understand their rights and know their responsibilities.
Essential qualifications are a detailed, hands-on understanding of chemistry and/or laser safety; extensive experience in chemical or laser research or associated safety-related field; excellent people skills; and a proactive attitude towards safety. Education: Bachelors and 7-10 years’ experience or advanced degree in chemistry, related safety discipline, or related/comparable field and 3-5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Summary/Description
The successful candidate will perform comprehensive environmental health and safety (EH&S) compliance audits for a wide range of clients in the private (e.g., commercial and manufacturing facilities) and public sectors. Additionally, this position will act a team leader for this practice group and will provide technical support for client litigation. This position will be based in our Orville, Sacramento, or West Sacramento offices.
Job Qualifications/Competencies/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a major study in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, Biological/Physical Science, Behavioral Science, or related field of study.
- Board of Environmental Health & Safety Auditor Certification (BEAC) or equivalent is required.
- Five or more years of progressively responsible experience conducting EH&S compliance audits in the following disciplines: occupational safety, wastewater/storm water, ambient air quality, hazardous waste/solid waste, hazardous materials storage, UST’s, AGT’s, SARA Title III, drinking water, spill control/response (SPCC) and TSCA. Experience working in CA is preferred.

5. Strong oral presentation, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
